1st Easthampstead and the Centenary of Scouting
This year see's Scouting's 100th birthday and Scouts from all around the world are holding celebrations to mark this historic year. The world jamboree in Essex involved some 40,000 Scouts from all over the globe.
This summer 1st Easthampstead Scout Group ran BIGcamp, a camp which involved the entire membership of the Group. Held at the Berkshire College of Agriculture BIGcamp was the largest event the Group has ever seen with over 60 children on site for the Sunrise ceremony at 8am on 1st August.
Our Beaver Scouts camped for the first time this year, joining the Cubs and Scouts for 2 days. The cub Scouts camped for 4 days and our Scout Troops for 10 days.
We also extended the camp to all by inviting friends and families to an afternoon of fun on 1st August - the actual birthday of our organisation. We had over 250 people on site and raised £1000 for the Group!
All of our sections have also been planning and holding special activities to mark the centenary.
