| HISTORIC DAY FOR 1ST EASTHAMPSTEAD | Posted on 01/04/07 |
| Scouting in the UK has been mixed for many years but one of Bracknell’s oldest Groups had chosen to stay traditional and offer their activities to boys only. Times and attitudes have changed and now the 1st Easthampstead Scout Group based in Wildridings recognises that girls want to join in the fun too. Wednesday 28th March saw the 1st Easthampstead Scout Troop, based in Wildridings change their Groups history by investing 11 new members into a newly formed Scout Troop for girls. Their new Troop will run alongside their existing successful ‘boys Troop’ and there will be many opportunities for mixed activities. “We are very pleased with our new recruits. All 11 girls have learnt their basic Scouting skills over a very short period of time. We are very proud of our new members and I hope that they will enjoy the programme of activities we offer ” Kelvin Taylor, Scout Leader. “Scouting is currently celebrating 100 years of offering excitement and adventure to over 25 million members world-wide and I can think of no better way to kick start this Centenary year than the opportunity that we now offer both to boys and girls.” Richard Shirley, Group Scout Leader. Scouting offers
a fun programme of activities for children between 6 and 18 with many
opportunities for adults too. There are many spaces available around
this area. For more information please call 07790 530158 to be put
in touch with your nearest Group. Join the worlds largest youth movement
with over 25 million members, learn life enhancing skills and make
new friends. |
